Portugal airport honors Cristiano Ronaldo with hideous bust that looks nothing like him

What a bust.
The Madeira Islands airport in Portugal honored soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo by naming the airport after him and presenting him a busted statue. The replica outside of the airport is not only kind of creepy, but it also looks nothing like Ronaldo.
When photos of the Ronaldo and the bust got online, the internet couldn’t help but make fun of how bad the statue looks.
Ronaldo, who grew up on the island, was on hand for the ceremony where the bust was revealed and the airport was given a new name after him. The airport is now called the “Aeroporto Internacional da Madeira, Cristiano Ronaldo.”
The decision to rename the airport after Ronaldo was decided when he led the Portugal national team to success in Euro 2016, according to ESPN FC.
Although Ronaldo didn’t appear to be too thrilled with how the bust came out, he was still grateful in his speech.
“Thank you for being here in my honour. Seeing my name being given to this airport is something very special, everyone knows that I am proud of my country and especially my home city,” Ronaldo said.
This also isn’t the first time Ronaldo has been honored with a statue in his home country. A 10-foot bronze sculpture of Ronaldo was built in his hometown of Funchal in 2014.
